Mother's Day was interesting this year. We started first thing Saturday morning, ripping up the living room/dining room floor! The elders' quorum and missionaries and one of Bob's friends from work came to help, so the work went fast. We were pleased to find the joists in great shape. We fixed the subfloor and the elders' quorum hauled out a grill and made a hot dog lunch for everybody. Our helpers all had to go when the subfloor was complete, but the directions on the laminate assured us it was easy. Well . . . it took us several runs to figure out the trick, then it went pretty smoothly. It looks great! We worked til 1 am and moved the piano, couch and chair in off the porch so they wouldn't get wet if it rained and picked it up again in the morning.
It's a good thing we did! A major thunderstorm rolled in during the night and poured buckets over North Carolina.
Sunday morning, we played hookie from church and worked, worked, worked. By 3 pm, we were done!! The baseboards all back in place, everything. It looks wonderful, like a gorgeous hardwood floor. I almost hate to move the furniture back in. :o)
Today, we loaded all the trash on the trailer and hauled it to the recycling center, where we dumped it all in the dumpster. Whew! We are all exhausted.
And we still have to do the kitchen!!
